Where love can lead people to ...as Jealous Girlfriend sets ex-lover's rondavel ablaze

King William’s Town – In an apparent jealous rage, an Eastern Cape women set fire to her former lover’s rondavel in Ngxutyana Village in Willowvale, South Africa on Saturday. The 27-year-old woman was arrested and would appear in the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court on Monday on arson charges. He was in the hut with
his wife and children when it was set alight but they all managed to escape unharmed. “The husband noticed a mini blanket known as ixakatho near the hut which he recognised to be belonging to his ex-girlfriend who also resides in the same village,” police spokesperson Jackson Manatha said in a statement on Sunday. “It is alleged that the 35-year-old man had a misunderstanding with his wife and they got separated. “During the process of separation, the man fell in love with this 27-year-old woman.” But the man then mended his relationship with his wife. “It is also suspected it is this jealousness that drove her to set alight the rondavel of the 35-year-old man while he was sleeping with his family,” Manatha said. “Willowvale police detectives worked around the clock and arrested the 27-year-old woman on Saturday evening.” Although nobody was injured in the incident, Manatha said the damage to the hut was estimated at R15 000.
